Starters

A starter motor, an electric motor specifically designed for engine ignition initiation, serves the pivotal function of commencing the engine's operation. During the cranking process, the starter motor exerts a substantial electrical load, resulting in a transient reduction in battery voltage. This electrical apparatus utilises the supplied electricity to initiate the engine's rotation, ultimately leading to its ignition.

Rear View Camera

A backup camera, alternatively referred to as a reversing camera or rear-view camera, is a specialised video camera meticulously engineered for installation at the rear of a vehicle. Its primary function is to facilitate the process of reversing and mitigate the challenges associated with rear blind spots. This purpose-built device is meticulously designed to minimise the risk of collisions during the backing-up manoeuvre.

Reverse Light sensors

These devices essentially function as proximity sensors, providing audible warnings to the driver when the vehicle approaches an object in close proximity. This technology has a well-established presence in the automotive industry, with typical installations situated on the rear bumper to aid in reverse manoeuvre and, in certain vehicle models, on the front bumper to assist with forward clearance.

Fault Finding

A widely accepted approach to fault diagnosis involves the following steps: Firstly, it is essential to verify the operational status of all fuses, switches, and circuit breakers. Secondly, any issues related to these components can often be identified through observable indicators such as overheating, or the emission of buzzing or humming sounds emanating from a motor.


Batteries

An automotive battery, commonly referred to as a car battery, is a rechargeable energy storage device employed to initiate the operation of a motor vehicle. Its primary function entails delivering an electric current to power the electrically-driven starter motor, facilitating the commencement of the chemically-fueled internal combustion engine responsible for propelling the vehicle.

Air-Con

A vehicle's air conditioning system does not generate cold air per se; rather, it functions by extracting heat and moisture from the existing air within the vehicle's interior, consequently resulting in the emission of cooler air. This cooled air subsequently travels through the expansion valve or orifice tube, where it undergoes a restriction process and transitions into a gaseous state within the low-pressure segment of the air conditioning system.


Audio

The term "vehicle audio" encompasses various descriptions, including mobile audio, car audio, 12-volt audio, and related terminology, all of which refer to sound systems integrated into an automobile or other types of vehicles.

Alternators

The alternator is responsible for the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy, which is subsequently channeled to the battery and used to supply power to all of the electrical systems within the vehicle. While the car's battery is often credited with powering these systems, it is essential to recognise that the alternator is the primary source of electrical energy while the vehicle is in operation.

Alarms

During the activation of the alarm system, the sensors within it transmit a signal to the alarm's control unit. In the event that an unauthorised individual, such as a car thief, attempts to forcibly open a vehicle door, the alarm system promptly triggers an audible alert. Given that many car theft scenarios involve the illicit tampering with a vehicle's locks and entry, door sensors serve as highly efficacious deterrents against such illicit activities.

Major Service

This includes all service items on the vehicle as done with a minor service, but will also include other items such as all fluids on the vehicle, spark plugs, belts. This is done as per original manufacturer spec. 

Engine Overhaul

An engine overhaul is a comprehensive maintenance procedure that involves disassembling, inspecting, repairing or replacing worn or damaged components, and reassembling an engine to restore it to a like-new or improved condition, often extending its lifespan and performance.

Auto Electrical

This pertains to the entirety of the electrical systems integrated within your vehicle. In modern automobiles, intricate electrical and computer systems are in place to guarantee optimal performance. The vehicle's electrical system is, in essence, the vital core of its functionality, and without its proper operation, the vehicle cannot function.

Minor Service

This constitutes a fundamental maintenance service for your vehicle. It primarily encompasses the replacement of engine oil and filters, complemented by a comprehensive vehicle inspection to identify any additional consumables or components that may require replacement. All procedures are conducted in strict accordance with the original manufacturer's specifications.

Rear Suspension

Similar to the front suspension, the rear suspension system significantly influences the vehicle's handling characteristics and ride comfort. While configurations can vary, rear suspensions typically consist of components such as shocks, coil springs, ball joints, control arms, and CV joints.

Front Steering & Suspension

Enhances the vehicle's ride comfort and handling performance. Although the composition of suspension systems may vary, they commonly encompass elements such as shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rod ends, the rack and pinion steering system, and idler/pitman arms. The suspension serves as the critical link connecting the vehicle to its tires and, ultimately, to the road surface.

Brakes

Present on all four wheels, the braking system represents a paramount safety component within your vehicle. Disc brakes are typically situated on both the front and rear wheels, comprised of brake pads and calipers. In certain vehicles, particularly at the rear wheels, you may encounter drum brakes featuring brake shoes and wheel cylinders.

Diagnostics

The diagnostic test is contingent upon an advanced computer system that interfaces with the vehicle's computer processor, sensors, and microchips, effectively documenting any prevailing issues or anomalies. This diagnostic process is proficient at detecting underlying deficiencies, encompassing a range of systems including exhaust, transmission, and the oil tank, among others. Contemporary diagnostics are executed by highly sophisticated computer systems that establish a direct connection with your vehicle, thereby identifying precise fault codes instrumental in diagnosing issues. It is noteworthy that all Auto Care franchisees are equipped with the requisite diagnostic machinery, ensuring accurate and comprehensive fault diagnosis during the initial assessment.

Drive-train

The drive train of an automobile comprises the collection of components responsible for transmitting power to the vehicle's driving wheels. It is essential to note that the engine or motor, which generates the power, is not encompassed within the drive train. Conversely, the term "power train" encompasses both the engine or motor and the drive train. The specific configuration of the drive train, whether it be 4-wheel drive, front-wheel drive, or rear-wheel drive, is contingent upon the vehicle's specifications.
